Practice Update

After a tough tournament, the girls gutted out a nice win on Sunday. Next practice will be this Thursday from 6:00-7:15PM at Dedham Middle School. I will speak with Tim Ruggiere on Wednesday to confirm that the girls who play on the DMS basketball team can stay in the school cafeteria from 5:00-6:00pm to study and have a snack between practices.

Tournament Schedule

Okay, "Version 1" of the tournament schedule has been posted at the Mass Premier Courts website. Here is what we have for a schedule, pending any last-minute changes by the folks at MPCourts:

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27th
3:30PM vs. Foxboro
*** Game is at ForeKicks in Norfolk! *** (Directions below)

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 29th
1:20pm vs. Hopkinton
3:45pm vs. Sudbury
(Both of these games are at Mass Premier)

As noted above, the Thursday game is being played at ForeKicks in Norfolk. This is a great gym, and it may actually be closer to us than Mass Premier. Directions are as follows:

Driving Directions from Boston
Take Rt. 128 or Rt. 95 to Rt. 1 south in Norwood. Follow Rt. 1 south into Foxboro (DO NOT take Pine St. exit in Walpole!). Go PAST Gillette Stadium and take a right at next traffic light (Pine St. exit, Lafayette House restaurant and Seasonal Specialty Store on right). Follow exit road to end and make a right onto Pine St (Rt. 115). Go less than 2 miles and Fore Kicks will be on your left hand side.

Photos

Parents - if you have a digital camera, please take some photos of the girls during our upcoming games. Forward them to me, and I will post them on the site. My email address is cmasalsky@aol.com. Don't worry about cropping, resizing or re-formatting the pictures - I've got Photoshop and I can take care of all of that. Thanks!!!

Middle School Hoops Study Group Thursdays

For everyone who has a daughter playing on BOTH the 7th Grade Metrowest Basketball team AND the Dedham Middle School Basketball team … I spoke with a few of you yesterday about how to handle our crazy Thursday practice schedule, and wanted to let everyone in on what’s happening. On most Thursdays, the middle school team will practice from 3:45-5pm, and Metro will practice from 6-7:15 … this leaves an hour in between, during which you would normally need to pick your daughter up from school, drive home, then drive back shortly after.

To alleviate this problem, John Maida is speaking with the folks at DMS to get approval for the girls to stay in the cafeteria from 5-6pm to do their homework, study, and have a snack (BYO) before practice. Since the Middle School team is already going to the library from 2:30-3:30 on Thursdays (to have study group before practice starts), having a second session would ensure that each girl has plenty of time to get homework done without having to worry about getting home at 7:30pm needing to hit a pile of books, eat dinner, shower, etc.

The good news is we have plenty of time to work out the details. The Middle School team has no practice this Thursday (Dec. 13) due to an event that their coach (Ms. Curry) is involved in. There is also no Middle School practice on the following Thursday (Dec. 20) because they are having a team holiday party after school … there is also no Metrowest practice that evening, since our practice time conflicts with the Middle School Holiday Concert that night.

So, all of this will likely start the first week of January. Check your email and the blog for updates!

Schedules for Dedham High and Middle School Hoops

Here are links to the 2007-08 season schedules for the Girls Basketball teams at the High School and Middle School:

HIGH SCHOOL

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Next Game: Sunday, 12:00 Noon, Home

Following a great effort by the girls - resulting in a 35-25 victory - they will take on Sharon this coming Sunday at home. Please be there no later than 11:30am for warmups. If you can get there a bit earlier, the 8th grade girls are playing at 10:30am, and it would be nice to provide them with some support. If you can stay a bit later, the 6th grade girls play right after us. There are very few times (maybe once more this year) where the three teams play home games back-to-back-to-back, so take advantage of it while you can. It's a good chance to get to see many of the girls your daughters will be playing alongside throughout their interscholastic careers.

News on the holiday week tournament is coming soon!
