Hoops Blog Is Back!

Hey there folks, I've resurrected the hoops blog for another season. First order of business is the schedule for the upcoming tournament ... all games at Mass Premier Courts:

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 27 7:00PM Court 5 vs. Narragansett
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 28 4:40PM Court 6 vs. Stoughton
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 28 7:00PM Court 1 vs. Chicopee

NO PRACTICE THURSDAY JAN. 31

A reminder ... due to the Middle School team's away game this Thursday (Jan. 31), there is NO PRACTICE for the Grade 7 MetroWest team.

Next practice is Saturday, February 2 ... keep a watch on your email, as there may be a time change. If so, we will post it here as well.

Mid-Season Update

Somehow, they keep winning. After pulling out another nail-biter, the team is 7-0. We are heading into the most difficult stretch of the season over the next four weeks, playing a team that is also undefeated, one with one loss, and one with two. All of these games should be extremely competitive, and should give us an idea of where we stand heading into the playoffs.

This week's Thursday practice (Jan. 24th) is business as usual ... the Middle School team plays after school, and then we practice at 6:00pm. Since the boys' Middle School team plays right after the girls game, the girls are welcome to stay at the Middle School (either watching the game in the gym or doing homework in the cafeteria) while waiting for practice to start.

The FOLLOWING Thursday (Jan. 31st) there will be NO PRACTICE. The girls Middle School team has an away game at Wellesley, and will not return to the school until approximately 6:30pm. Since this includes 6 of the 10 girls on the team, that pretty much makes practicing impossible.

MAKE-UP GAME: Saturday January 5, 6:30PM

We have a make-up game against Walpole on Saturday January 5 at 6:30PM at Walpole High School. Please be at the gym no later than 6:00pm. Directions are as follows:

Take Route 1 South ... go PAST the Rte. 95 exit, then take your next RIGHT onto Common Street. Follow Common St. straight through the next traffic light at Cumberland Farms. Stay on Common St. for about another mile and Walpole High School will be on your left.

Practice Update

After a tough tournament, the girls gutted out a nice win on Sunday. Next practice will be this Thursday from 6:00-7:15PM at Dedham Middle School. I will speak with Tim Ruggiere on Wednesday to confirm that the girls who play on the DMS basketball team can stay in the school cafeteria from 5:00-6:00pm to study and have a snack between practices.

Tournament Schedule

Okay, "Version 1" of the tournament schedule has been posted at the Mass Premier Courts website. Here is what we have for a schedule, pending any last-minute changes by the folks at MPCourts:

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 27th
3:30PM vs. Foxboro
*** Game is at ForeKicks in Norfolk! *** (Directions below)

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 29th
1:20pm vs. Hopkinton
3:45pm vs. Sudbury
(Both of these games are at Mass Premier)

As noted above, the Thursday game is being played at ForeKicks in Norfolk. This is a great gym, and it may actually be closer to us than Mass Premier. Directions are as follows:

Driving Directions from Boston
Take Rt. 128 or Rt. 95 to Rt. 1 south in Norwood. Follow Rt. 1 south into Foxboro (DO NOT take Pine St. exit in Walpole!). Go PAST Gillette Stadium and take a right at next traffic light (Pine St. exit, Lafayette House restaurant and Seasonal Specialty Store on right). Follow exit road to end and make a right onto Pine St (Rt. 115). Go less than 2 miles and Fore Kicks will be on your left hand side.

GAME IS POSTPONED

According to the Metrowest website, Walpole has postposed all home games today ... that means our game is OFF.
